A Freeze Warning is an alert issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) when temperatures are expected to drop to 32°F (0°C) or below for several hours, which can lead to damage to crops, sensitive outdoor vegetation, and unprotected plumbing.
Search interest spiked because a cold front brought the coldest temperatures of the season to Texas. The National Weather Service issued Freeze Warnings for North, Central, and East Texas, including the Dallas/Fort Worth area and the Texas Hill Country, on or around November 9, 2025, with overnight lows expected to dip into the low 30s.
The warnings prompted officials to urge residents to take immediate precautions to protect the "Four P's": outdoor Pets, Pipes, Plants, and people. Experts noted that the unexpected cold in warm regions is a stark reminder of extreme weather vulnerability, as infrastructure in southern states is often not prepared for hard freezes. Farmers were on high alert for crop damage.
