Cleto Escobedo III (1966–2025) was an American musician and the bandleader of Cleto and the Cletones, the house band for the late-night talk show *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* since the show's debut in 2003. He and host Jimmy Kimmel were childhood friends who grew up across the street from each other in Las Vegas.
The interest spiked due to the announcement of Cleto Escobedo III's death at the age of 59 on the morning of November 11, 2025. The show was reportedly canceled a few days earlier due to a 'personal matter,' which was later reported to be Kimmel rushing to be by his friend's side, emphasizing the profound personal connection between the two.
