Venmo, a popular peer-to-peer mobile payment platform, experienced a widespread service outage where users could not access core functions such as sending or receiving payments and logging in. Venmo is owned by PayPal and is used by millions for quick money transfers and splitting bills.
Search interest spiked due to a significant service disruption reported by thousands of users on Wednesday evening, December 3, 2025. At its peak, over 37,000 outage complaints flooded tracking platforms. The issue was attributed to a technical failure that caused server connection failures and prevented the app from loading for many users nationwide.
Users were highly frustrated by the platform being down during peak evening hours, which created delays for routine payments and small businesses relying on the service. Many took to social media to voice their complaints about the app not working and were actively searching for troubleshooting steps and updates on when service would be restored. Venmo acknowledged the issues and stated their team was working on a fix.
